Birthplace of the Naalayira Divya Prabandham where the First Three Azhwars (Mudal Azhwars) met in a narrow corridor during a storm and beheld the Lord.

According to the Sthala Puranam and ancient Sri Vaishnava Agamas, Divya Desam #42 (Thirukkovilur) is revered as a sacred kshetram in Nadu Nadu. The presiding deity, Lord Trivikrama Perumal (Ulagalantha Perumal), graces devotees in Ninra (Trivikrama) posture facing East beneath the sacred Srikara Vimanam, accompanied by Goddess Poongoval Nachiyar (Pushpavalli). Holy dips or prostrations near the Pennai River (Krishnakushba) are believed to bestow peace, prosperity, and Moksha. Throughout the centuries, Chola, Pandya, Pallava, and Vijayanagara rulers contributed मंडपम्स (mandapams), gopurams, and stone inscriptions preserving the daily Pancharatra / Vaikhanasa Agama worship.
