The colossal 18-foot reclining Padmanabhaswamy is viewed through three sacred doors (Sarpakoodam, Brahma Nabhi, and Lotus Feet).

According to the Sthala Puranam and ancient Sri Vaishnava Agamas, Divya Desam #76 (Thiruvananthapuram (Sree Padmanabhaswamy)) is revered as a sacred kshetram in Malai Nadu. The presiding deity, Lord Ananthapadmanabha Swamy, graces devotees in Kidandha (Reclining on Anantha) posture facing East beneath the sacred Hemakoota Vimanam, accompanied by Goddess Harilakshmi Thayar. Holy dips or prostrations near the Padma Theertham, Matsya Theertham are believed to bestow peace, prosperity, and Moksha. Throughout the centuries, Chola, Pandya, Pallava, and Vijayanagara rulers contributed मंडपम्स (mandapams), gopurams, and stone inscriptions preserving the daily Pancharatra / Vaikhanasa Agama worship.
