One of the Pancharanga Kshetrams; where Nathamuni heard the 10 Pasurams of Aravamudhan that led to the recovery of the 4000 Divya Prabandham.

According to the Sthala Puranam and ancient Sri Vaishnava Agamas, Divya Desam #12 (Thirukkudanthai (Kumbakonam Sarangapani)) is revered as a sacred kshetram in Chola Nadu. The presiding deity, Lord Aravamudhan (Sarangapani Perumal), graces devotees in Uthana Sayanam (Reclining) posture facing East beneath the sacred Vaidika Vimanam, accompanied by Goddess Komalavalli Nachiyar. Holy dips or prostrations near the Hema Pushkarani (Potramarai) are believed to bestow peace, prosperity, and Moksha. Throughout the centuries, Chola, Pandya, Pallava, and Vijayanagara rulers contributed मंडपम्स (mandapams), gopurams, and stone inscriptions preserving the daily Pancharatra / Vaikhanasa Agama worship.
